LONGEVITY TIPS
- Do not operate your vehicle with insufficient power
steering fluid. Insufficient power steering fluid will cause power
steering pump damage.
- Avoid using automatic transmission fluid as a power
steering fluid substitute in your system unless it is explicitly recommended by
the car manufacturer. Automatic transmission fluid contains an additive
that swells rubber seals; power
steering fluid does not contain this additive. Steering system performance
could be hindered by swollen rubber parts if automatic transmission fluid is
used.
- Protect steering components from abrasive damage.
If metallic particles are frequently found in your power steering fluid,
consider installing an in-line power steering fluid filter.
